[Rhys is working across the room from Enis, keys clacking away on a computer. He's working on a program for the legs he'd promised Ivar. He jumps when he hears her curse, turning to see what's going on.]

Enis? You okay? What happened?

[blindpuppet]

[Enis shakes her head and then realizes that he might not be looking at her.]

I'm fine. [Her voice is tense as she finally gets the fail safe under control. She's made a point to prove that she can work on her own here but burning herself on a soldering iron is not supporting it.] Just burnt my finger.

Fucking nickle.

[She's soldering a control board hence she's using nickle instead of another element.

It isn't really like her to zone out but it is like her to swear.]

If you're sure...

[Rhys is used to her being more controlled in the work space, though. This is the first time he's seen her make a careless mistake, even if it's a minor one.]

It's not like you to get distracted, though. Got something on your mind?

[She's ready to disregard the incident but something has her hesitating. Lately she's been more distracted than usual and it's dangerous.]

Maybe. I'm not sure where my mind is right now.

[Enis leans back in her seat and runs her fingers through her hair.]

Maybe I need a break. [Except that she doesn't usually take breaks.]

You're allowed to take breaks, y'know. I'm not a slave driver. In fact, why don't we go ahead and grab lunch?

[He isn't really that hungry, but he does enjoy spending time alone with Enis without work interfering.]

We could even take the rest of the day off, if you want.

Like how you take breaks? [Enis counters quickly. It isn't that she's opposed to breaks but she isn't used to them. This is her first job and Rhys is her first boss. She assumes that she should work as much as he does or more, if only to prove that she's valuable.

She pauses and considers his offer.]

You want to take the day off with me?

[She sounds very surprised and a little unsure. Enis wants to spend more time with Rhys. She enjoys their time together, even when their working, but it makes her feel... strange. She isn't really sure what it is.]

[Despite what he's telling Enis, Rhys rarely takes breaks of his own. He's often consumed in his work enough to even skip meals.]

Yeah. Let's take the day off together. You've been working pretty hard, and it could be fun just to relax together, y'know? I-if you want to, that is.

[Because he's finding it hard to gauge whether or not she actually enjoys spending time with him. She seems to, and conversation tends to come easy between them.]

[Enis nods her head, consenting to the suggestion without putting up much of a fight.]

Sure. [She pauses briefly and then adds.] I think, I want too.

[She sounds surprised at her reply, as if she hadn't realized the truth of her own words until she had said them out loud. Enis is decent at hiding her emotions but these are all emotions that she isn't used too. Hiding how she feels seems nearly impossible and it's annoying that it's around Rhys.

Who is also her boss.

What the hell was wrong with her?]

Where do you want to go?

[Jeez, why is this awkward? Is it the work relationship? Was asking Stacey out this awkward back then? Did he always get so sweaty around pretty girls?]

Why don't we grab some lunch and go for a picnic? The garden area's pretty nice. And maybe after that, we could go...play games? Something not stressful.

[Enis isn't sure what's making her awkward but it isn't work or the fact that Rhys is her boss because she doesn't really care about any of that. Ever since she's met Rhys there has been something about him, something she can't place...]

A picnic?

[She turns fully towards him and tries not to smile.]

Sure. Sounds cute. [She hadn't realized Rhys liked cute things.] And I probably like games. [Enis has been figuring a lot out as she goes.]

[Rhys does enjoy cute things, though he normally tries to play it off as thinking of someone else's needs before his own.]

Games are always fun. And I thought you'd enjoy being out in the nice weather~ There's no need for us to leave one building just to sit in another. W-well, as much as we can be outside. I mean, we're technically stuck inside this giant sphere, because we can't really leave it, or we'd be crushed by the incredible pressure before we even had a chance to drown. It'd be an awful death. And the sea life would probably devour our corpses before anyone knew what happened.

[And now he's babbling. Smooth.]

[Despite herself, Enis smiles and shakes her head.]

You're rambling Rhys. [She sounds amused.] Which means that we stuck going outside. [Enis holds up a finger.] To the park not the water.

Come on.

[Maybe he's a little cute when he rambles.]

Ahah, sorry. [He's a little nervous. There's no reason for him to be nervous, but he is.]

But being in the park will be fun. We'll get some nice sunlight, we can relax, maybe fly a kite.

[Enis finishes organizing her work and then turns off the soldering iron. She runs her fingers through her hair before slipping her black leather jacket off the back of her chair. She has no idea if it's hot out but it's hot in the workshop and more often than not she walks around in jeans and a very thin tank top. It's really the only thing she has to combat the heat.]

Okay but I've never flown a kit before.

[She finds herself almost smiling at him and it's... odd. There's that feeling again but she still has no idea what it is.]

I might suck at it and if it flies off I'm going to get you to chase it down.

[Mostly because that seems like something that would be fun to see. Enis isn't sure why but there is a lot about Rhys that confuses her.]

[Rhys isn't the greatest athlete, but he's willing to do anything to make Enis smile. It's weird, being happy just knowing he's making someone else happy.]

I'll chase it down, don't worry. I'll even show you how to fly it~

[Really just an excuse to stand close to her, but hey, that's the whole point of ditching work early. He decides to leave his jacket, feeling comfortable in his button-down with the sleeves rolled up. Enis is always dressed so casual, but Rhys can never bring himself to dress down for work.

Which might be an issue now.]

Actually, do you mind if I swing by my room and change? Slacks might not be the best park attire.

Oh?

[Enis presses her lips together to try not to smile anymore than she has. She doesn't smile. It's an awkward expression for her but more or more she feels it naturally shaping her lips.]

I will hold you do it.

[She doesn't even realize it's just an excuse for him to stand close since she really has no idea how to fly a kite.

Enis glances at his attire and then nods.]

Yeah, sure. What are you going to change into?

[He always seems to be super formal which is a stark contrast to the clothes that Enis wears. She doesn't really have a clothing preference and she just wears what's available or cheap.]

[He shrugs, glancing down at himself.]

Probably the same outfit I wore to the outdoor movie screening. Sweatpants and a tank top. Most of my clothes are, ah...business attire, I guess. It's what I'm used to. I should spring for more comfortable stuff, huh?

[He grins at her, wiggling his eyebrows.]

Maybe we can go shopping one day~

You don't own jeans and a t-shirt?

[Which is what she usually wore.]

I might not be great at that. I buy what's on sale. I'm not really into clothes. [Enis is the furthest thing from a girly girl but she does have an idea of some things she'd like to see Rhys wear... or maybe those were some things she'd like to see him remove. The two desires were a little mixed up in her head.]

But maybe. Let's head to your place then.

[She gestures with a hand, silently saying 'after you']

I don't. I had a couple of tshirts before, when I worked at Hyperion, but I lost them. Back home, I hardly have time to myself, so I just don't bother.

[He leads her out and towards the living quarters, offering his arm along the way. There are outfits he'd like to see her in, too, and outfits he'd maybe like to help remove. But he tries not to think about that just now.]

A good outfit can be the thing that makes or breaks a man...o-or woman. Y'know, if you ever decided to go for a leadership position or something.

You'd look good in a black button down, maybe a pair of khakis or jeans. [Enis isn't sure where that came from but she stands by the statement. It'd be less formal than he's used too but it would look good on him.] I think people should just wear what they like though.

[She takes his arm out of habit and walks next to him. Enis isn't sure if Rhys likes being informal with her specifically or if that's just how he is. She almost wants to ask but then what would he think of her? Why does she care? She's being fucking stupid about all this.]

I don't think leadership is for me. Not saying I am much of a follower either but I'd rather do my own thing. [Which she sometimes does in the shop too. After having her father dictate her every move, Enis relishes in the freedom she has now.] What would I wear for that? A suit or a dress?

[She squints.]

I don't know what women wear.

[And she's never cared… until right now.]

Khakis, huh~? Never considered those. They always remind me of someone going on safari on Eden-6. I-it's a jungle-filled planet. [Not that he's ever been. Nor would he really care to go. It always sounded like a humid, bug-filled nightmare to Rhys.]

As for women's wear, I've always been a fan of skirt suits. Or really, a good blazer could go a long way towards a diverse wardrobe. You can pair it with jeans, slacks, a pencil skirt, or even a sleeveless dress. It's a classic staple in the business world.

[He shrugs, trying to act casual.] You don't have to change for me, though. I like you the way you are.

You know that Khakis's are also the name for semi-formal pants. [Enis knows this because she has a thesaurus in her head but it's also specific to her world. It's very possible that it isn't true in Rhys's world.]

Sounds like you know what you're talking about. How about I just get you to take me shopping. [He can dress her up and get her to buy things. Enis wouldn't say no.

She glances over at him and smirks as they get close to his apartment.] You like me? Does that mean you want me to wait inside while you change? [She's only teasing him... maybe.]

I know, but people also wear khakis on Safari, like with the big pockets and full outfits and stuff? A-and I mean, you can wait wherever you like? I don't care. [He shrugs and tries to play it off casually.]

Why, do you wanna watch me change~? [He opens the door and holds it for her, inviting her in.]

[She meets his gaze with a quirk of her eyebrow.]

You'll let me? [She asks conversationally as she steps through the open door of his apartment.

Enis wonders if he means it or if he's simply humoring her teasing. For some reason it's hard for her to figure out what he's thinking. She stops and turns towards him, keeping herself positioned on the inside of his apartment (-as if that makes her intentions clear.)]

I've always been curious.

[As she stops to block his way into his own pod, Rhys can feel his cheeks heat up.]

Y-you have? Like, about me, or curious in general? [Is it getting hot? He feels a little hot.] I'm not gonna put on a show, if that's what you're expecting. [He crosses his arms over his chest, trying to assert his authority.]

You gonna let me in?
